He designed it to mimic a psychotherapist. Kenneth Colby constructed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chatbots.org\/chatbot\/parry\/\">Parry<\/a> in 1972. It imitated a patient with schizophrenia. This chatbot was the first to pass the Turing Test. In 1988, Rollo Carpenter designed <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jabberwacky#Purpose\">Jabberwacky<\/a>, an AI intended for entertainment. In 1992, Creative-Labs created <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/classicreload.com\/dr-sbaitso.html\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Sbaitso<\/a>. It&#8217;s a voice-operated chatbot that converses with the user like a psychologist. In 1995, Richard Wallace constructed <a href=\"https:\/\/onlim.com\/en\/the-history-of-chatbots\/\">Alice<\/a>. It imitates a young woman and answers the user&#8217;s dialog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apple formed Siri in 2010. It&#8217;s an intelligent personal\nassistant and learning navigator. Google followed launching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/google-now\">Google Now<\/a> in 2012. It\nanswers questions and makes recommendations through predictive search. In 2014,\nMicrosoft demonstrated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-in\/windows\/cortana\">Cortana<\/a>,\na chatbot that responds to voice commands. In the same year, Amazon developed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Amazon-Echo-And-Alexa-Devices\/b?ie=UTF8&amp;node=9818047011\">Alexa<\/a>.\nAlexa became most household&#8217;s aid and personal assistant. It can play music,\nsearch the web, set alarms, control your smart-home products, and more. Today,\nthere are 15,000 Alexa skills available, with the list growing fast every\nmonth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Chatbots_in_2020\"><\/span><strong>Chatbots in 2020<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are more than 300,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/manychat.com\/blog\/best-facebook-chatbots-2019\/\">Facebook\nMessenger Chatbots<\/a> in the market today. You can use them to request a ride\nfrom Lyft. You can search for recipes at Wholefood&#8217;s bot. Fandango&#8217;s chatbot\nlets you watch a movie trailer. It can find local theaters by entering your zip\ncode. Spotify&#8217;s bot recommends a playlist based on your mood. And you can get\nmakeup tutorials if you chat with Sephora. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Chatbots_are_winning_in_seven_big_areas\"><\/span><strong>Chatbots are winning in seven big areas. <\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ecommerce is adding dollars to their bottom line by using chatbots. Messenger chatbots cost less but have higher open rates and click-through rates.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Customer Service bots are a no-brainer with an almost instant return of investment. <a href=\"https:\/\/chatbotslife.com\/how-businesses-are-winning-with-chatbots-ai-5df2f6304f81\">Mckinsey<\/a> saved 29% on customer service costs by deploying chatbots. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Travel industries are building a chatbot ecosystem. They engage the customer before, during, and after a trip.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Fintech disrupted the financial services through chatbot mediums.&nbsp; JP Morgan&#8217;s COIN saved over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abe.ai\/blog\/10-big-banks-using-chatbots-boost-business\/\">360,000<\/a> hours of manpower. Swedbank&#8217;s Nina&nbsp; handles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/blakemorgan\/2017\/08\/06\/5-ways-chatbots-can-improve-customer-experience-in-banking\/#40be908b7148\">400,000 chats<\/a> a month and resolves <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/blakemorgan\/2017\/08\/06\/5-ways-chatbots-can-improve-customer-experience-in-banking\/#40be908b7148\">81%<\/a> client&#8217;s issues<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>HR bots are also helping companies. Automation saves <a href=\"https:\/\/hrcsuite.com\/chatbots-in-hr\/\">30% to 50%<\/a> of the time HR Reps spend answering requests and updates. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>There are chatbots you can hire to do a task for you. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/business-functions\/digital-mckinsey\/our-insights\/where-machines-could-replace-humans-and-where-they-cant-yet\">45%<\/a> of a job-related task is automatable. <a href=\"https:\/\/rossintelligence.com\/\">ROSS<\/a> performs legal research for law firms. <a href=\"https:\/\/tara.ai\/\">Tara.ai<\/a> hires and manage developers for your tech project. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Voice &amp; IoT are becoming a hit. This year Alexa alone generated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2017\/03\/10\/amazon-alexa-voice-assistan-could-be-a-10-billion-mega-hit-by-2020-research.html\">$10 billion<\/a> of revenues in 2019.
