Web searches for travel content increased by 60% compared to a year ago. So, it seems that the vaccine roll-out has put everyone in the travel mood sooner. Aside from these statistics, the most noteworthy point is Pinterest&#8217;s classification of travelers into 6 groups. I believe that the tourism industry used to roughly segment travelers by destinations and purpose of travel. Pinterest\u2019s segmentation provides useful learning points \u2013 not just for marketers working in the tourism industry \u2013 but to the rest of us marketers as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_Types_of_Travelers_According_to_Pinterest\"><\/span><strong>6 Types of Travelers According to Pinterest<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 6 types of travelers \u2013 as defined by Pinterest \u2013 include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bucket Listers who seek to fulfill their every travel desire<\/li><li>Culture Chasers who enjoy immersing themselves in local culture<\/li><li>Digital Nomads who travel and work at the same time<\/li><li>Foodie Travelers hunt down authentic, local cuisine<\/li><li>Memory Makers seek to create unforgettable memories<\/li><li>Outdoor Junkies who seek adventure in the mountains<\/li><li>Rural Tourists who love visiting rural towns<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Concept_of_Customer_Personas_Applies_to_All_Industries\"><\/span><strong>The Concept of Customer Personas Applies to All Industries<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The point of such segmentation is to assign customer personas to different types of travelers. This is to better understand and anticipate their different interests and pain points. They can inform the creation of customer-centric products and enable marketers to create suitable marketing messages that resonate with the <a href=\"https:\/\/berniewong.net\/zh-hk\/bernie-wong-on-facebook-ad-targeting\/\">target<\/a> persona.
