On 30 November 2020, I joined The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for an engagement on podcasting and content marketing. The session centred on sharing lessons from podcast experiments and radio work while examining whether Taiwan’s 2020 podcast momentum could translate to Hong Kong.
The experience highlighted a consistent lesson from education and professional training: people learn best when ideas are linked with authentic examples, thoughtful questions and a next step they can see themselves taking.

Frameworks create structure, while stories make the structure meaningful. Bringing real situations into a session allows participants to examine choices, constraints and consequences rather than memorising isolated advice.
- Start with the audience and its current context.
- Explain the purpose behind each method or channel.
- Use practical examples to reveal trade-offs.
- Encourage questions and comparison of perspectives.
- End with a concrete action that continues the learning.
Why discussion creates better learning
There is rarely one universally correct marketing or communication answer. What works depends on the audience, objective, timing and available resources. Discussion helps learners investigate the “why” behind a case and build judgement they can transfer to new situations.
Learning that continues after the event
A useful class or sharing should open a path rather than close a topic. Participants leave with a clearer mental model, greater confidence and questions worth exploring further. This is particularly important in digital fields where tools and behaviour keep changing.
These principles guide my training, guest lectures and speaking engagements. Current programmes also cover AI and digital marketing for teams and institutions.
